What is second saturday?
Every month, art galleries in the Sacramento metro area stay open late and invite the public to the Second Saturday Art Walk. People from near and far come to walk from gallery to gallery, enjoying the latest and best of the region's vibrant art scene. There is live music, and an immense variety of art and activities behind every door.

Where is second saturday?
Check out the map. Downtown, Midtown, East Sacramento and Del Paso all have Second Saturday events each month.

When is second saturday?
On the second Saturday of each month, year-round (rain or shine). Galleries typically hold openings between 6-10pm. START EARLY! Especially if you are driving, arrive early, park, and get on foot as soon as possible. Midtown is usually un-drivable by 7pm during an event.

“Sometimes the Earth is Cruel” by Jim Marxen - Haiti Relief Fundraiser at Fe Gallery

Like everyone else I was shocked by the photos coming out of Haiti, and wondered why such bad things happened in a country that was already mired in poverty and political upheaval. It seemed cruel. On the other hand, we all know that the forces of nature are random and impossible to predict.

Deer Hunters & Women - 4 day show

Work by Patricia Gillespie and Harry Siter - 4 days only, including 2nd Sat reception and skateboard session

Gillespie, an Oakland California artist, works in hand-stitched fabric on plywood; painted figures on wood then set in relief over the quilting. Siter is a Vallejo California sculpture who works with wood, bronze, and ceramic.

Mike Hoffman

Luigis Slice and Fun Garden is proud to present a series of mixed media and print art by Mike Hoffman. Mr. Hoffmann's works are not conceived but grown. Building up backgrounds over months, Hoffmann strives to include the experience of his past and present states. Hoffmann's lavish and membranous background are then framed by his definitive and distinct realistic drawing technique. Mr Hoffmann's work will be on display from Feb 4-28. Internationally known artist Don Hatfield exhibits his exquisite works in the Patris Studio through April 5. He teaches weekly figure painting classes at Capitol Art Center on Tuesdays, 1:30 - 4:30.
